These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Squire, the brief-automation service available at squire.news (the “Service”), operated by Bailey Meyers, a sole proprietor (“Squire,” “we,” or “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Squire lets you configure automated assistants (“Squires”) that generate daily or weekly intelligence briefs from news and other public sources and deliver them by email to recipients you designate. You control each Squire’s focus, sections, schedule, personality, and recipient list.
Briefs are written by artificial intelligence (Anthropic’s Claude models) based on third-party news sources. They are automated analysis: they may contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or mischaracterizations of the underlying sources. Briefs are provided for general informational purposes only and are not professional, legal, financial, investment, or medical advice. You are responsible for verifying any information before acting on it or sharing it with others.
Accounts are created and authenticated through our provider Clerk. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and accept responsibility for all activity under your account. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
Squire offers a Free plan and paid subscriptions (currently Advisor at $49/month and Council at $149/month). Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe; we never see or store your full card details. You may cancel at any time from the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access to paid features until then. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. We will give reasonable advance notice of any price changes, which apply from your next billing period.

Every brief email includes a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests are honored automatically and enforced through a suppression list checked before every send. You are responsible for ensuring you have a lawful basis to email each recipient you add.
Your content. You own the configuration you create — quests, keywords, custom branding, and any material you upload. You grant us a license to use it solely to operate the Service for you.
Our service. Squire owns the Service, including its software, design, and branding. These Terms grant no rights in them beyond use of the Service.
Generated briefs. We grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive license to use, edit, distribute, and rebrand the briefs generated for your account, subject to Section 8.
Briefs summarize and link to third-party news articles and other public sources. Squire claims no ownership of that underlying content; links point to the original publishers, whose own terms apply. Summaries are provided under principles of fair use for analysis and commentary, and we will address any publisher concerns at the contact below.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, timely delivery of any particular brief, or that the Service will be error-free. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Squire will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim.
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms or where required by law, with notice where practicable. Upon termination, your subscription ends and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 7, 8, 10, and 12) survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes we will give notice by email or in the app before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
